North Field East LNG Expansion
North Field East LNG Expansion is a strategic petrochemical and energy terminal project that processes natural gas and its derivatives and provides LNG export and storage. North Field East LNG Expansion is a globally significant LNG capacity increase project carried out in the eastern section of Qatar’s North Field, the world’s largest natural gas field. The project aims to significantly increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity and keep the country in the position of the world’s largest LNG supplier in the long term.

The four mega LNG trains built במסגרת the expansion have been designed with high-efficiency and low-emission process technologies. Thanks to these trains, Qatar’s annual LNG production capacity is being increased from approximately 77 million tons to over 110 million tons. The project particularly aims to provide long-term, reliable, and competitive supply to meet growing natural gas demand in Asian and European markets.

The distinctive aspects of North Field East:

World-scale capacity: The largest LNG trains on a single site

Low-carbon approach: Energy-efficient design, advanced heat recovery

Integrated infrastructure: LNG production, storage, loading, and export gathered in one center

Long-term supply security: Production life exceeding 25–30 years

The project represents not only a production capacity increase, but also a move that strengthens Qatar’s strategic influence and bargaining power in global energy markets. When North Field East LNG Expansion is completed, Ras Laffan will further reinforce its position as one of the world’s largest and most integrated LNG export centers; Qatar will continue to be one of the most important suppliers of natural gas as a transition fuel in the global energy transition process.
